Our Story

Who We Are & Why We're Here

Kyra was a bright light whose kindness, curiosity, and courage inspired everyone around her. During treatment, she found comfort in small joys—a favorite song, a handwritten note, a thoughtful surprise. Kyra's Hope Foundation carries that spark forward, bringing warmth to children and families navigating cancer.

Kyra's Hope Foundation was created in honor of Kyra, a bright, imaginative, endlessly loving twelve-year-old with a warrior's heart, boundless curiosity, and deep compassion. When Kyra was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma in September 2022, our family was suddenly navigating hospital rooms, treatments, fear, and exhaustion. She endured more than 1,000 days of pokes, pain, and a leg transplant, fighting with extraordinary courage for over three years before becoming an angel on November 9, 2025.

Through it all, Kyra remained curious, compassionate, and full of light, always finding ways to make others smile even on her hardest days. The chemotherapy she received was developed 40 years before she was born. Toxins built for another generation were the best medicine had to offer her.

Her journey revealed a truth no family should face alone. Children and caregivers need far more than medical care. They need comfort, rest, moments of joy, and a community that understands their pain.

We witnessed parents stretched thin, siblings feeling overlooked, and families overwhelmed emotionally and financially. We also learned how profoundly underfunded pediatric cancer research is, and how many treatments children still receive are decades old.

Kyra deserved better. All children do.

Her laughter, strength, and love inspired us to create something that would carry her light forward. Today, Kyra's Hope Foundation works to bring joy, comfort, and connection to children battling cancer, while supporting research that may one day lead to better treatments and brighter futures.

This foundation is our promise that Kyra's spirit will continue to shine on families who need hope the most.

“She wasn't just fighting for herself. She was fighting so we'd finally pay attention to what's been broken all along.”

Kyra's final act of courage was donating her body to medical science so that research could move faster for the next child. Today, her tumor samples are still being studied in laboratories. Her cancer is actively fueling the research that may one day save another child's life. Kyra is still fighting.
