Walk for Hope: A Community Walkathon

Some of the most powerful things a community can do are also the simplest. Showing up. Standing beside a family. Taking a walk together.

On Sunday, August 2, Walk for Hope brings families, friends, volunteers, and supporters to 60 Acres South Field in Redmond for a community walkathon in the fight against childhood cancer. Every step represents love, remembrance, resilience, and hope for children and families walking one of the hardest journeys of their lives.

The day is built to be easy to join and meaningful to be part of. After a short opening welcome, walkers set out on the 5K or 3.1 mile route. Along the way there is a Hope Wall for messages of love and encouragement, a moment to honor children in treatment, celebrate survivors, and remember children with love, plus fitness instructor-led activities, bubbles, chalk art, crafts, a photo spot, and volunteer-led water and snack stations.

This walk is about more than fundraising. Childhood cancer brings fear, isolation, exhaustion, and financial strain, and it demands better treatment options than families have today. A walk can become more than a walk: it can become a Hope Box for a child, a grocery card during treatment, a milestone celebration, or technical support that helps a research lab move faster toward answers.
